A young company with a great past

Today CLS Communication is a company with global reach. Although young in years, having been first incorporated in 1997, it has a long history. In 1997, the former Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS) and Zurich Financial Services decided to spin off their language service departments, and CLS, with CEO Doris Albisser at the helm, was launched.

The company’s new independent status allowed it to grow steadily. Firms such as Swisscom, sunrise, the Raiffeisen-Group, Banca del Gottardo and Swiss Re outsourced all their language services to CLS. Around 400 companies now work with CLS.

The management acquired the majority of CLS's capital in January 2003 and has since followed a clear strategy of international expansion. This has entailed the acquisition of language service providers outside Switzerland and the opening of new locations in Europe, the US and Asia.
