CLS Communication participating in a KTI research project

CLS Communication is participating as a partner in a research project supported by the Swiss Federal Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI) and headed by the University Hospital of Basel and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW). The aim of the project is to clarify the competency profile of interpreters consulted in hospitals. The requirements for their profiles focus on different conduct-based interpreting roles and on the successful translation and communication of medical concepts and contexts. As part of the project, CLS Communication AG is creating a terminology database intended to facilitate interpreting done by lay people. The database will include specialised medical terms in German, Albanian and Turkish, and contain explanations that are easily understandable for any lay person. The database can be expanded to include additional languages at later stages. It was possible to gain the support of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences for the development of the database.
